Never ever research any historical figure of whom you are particularly fond if you wish to remain that way. Nor should you ever read the introductions to volumes of poetry. Scholars have a way of destroying illusions.

I have researched several historical figures....most of the time I was let down. I eagerly wait to see if I am let down by George Washington, as he is the next historical figure I am researching.
I concur. Stupid historians, pointing out people's faults.
